Hapkido
"The Way of Coordinated Power"

Hapkido, a traditional Korean martial art, was founded by "DoJuNim" (Honorable Founder of the Way) Ji Han Jae.  Literally translated: "Hap" means coordinated or in harmony, "Ki" means the essence of power, and "Do" meaning a path or "the way".  In short, Hapkido means "the Way of Coordinated Power."

Hapkido utilizes both direct and circular movements. The art combines skeletal joint locks, pressure points, submissions, chokes, takedowns, throws, and a myriad of kicks and strikes for self-defense. Practitioners can learn to employ tactics of diversion and suppression, and oftentimes use an attacker's movement and power against him. Although Hapkido contains both outfighting and infighting techniques, the goal in most situations is to get inside for a close-in strike, lock, or throw.
